The Theater
The house had a finished basement when we bought it, but it was an awkward "L" shape.
I really wanted a place to watch movies on a large screen but back then large screen TV's were just to expensive.  I decided to experiment with projectors.

Concept #1 The Pull Down Screen
I mounted a screen up inside the roof along with a projector.  This made it possible to retract both into the celling so it would only be out when in use.  I liked the idea, but just didn't like the final result.

Concept #2 The Wall.
After much consideration and hours of research I decided on building The Wall.
I wanted to shorten the room to the recommended length for the size of my screen.
This time I wanted a more permanent screen and more storage.  My Idea was to build a wall to wall, floor to celling built in entertainment center.

Concept #3 The Room.
I was quite happy with the Wall, but the room still felt way to open and more like a basement than a Movie Room.  I always had a vision in my head, but didn't know how to pull it off.  After some thought, I decided to divide the room in half, but was not sure that it would look right when finished.  So I just went for it.  I added antique movie theater decorations and curtains around the room.  The curtains give it a theater feel and also greatly improve the acoustics.

The Projector Upgrade.
I was rewarded with Gift Certificates at work, so I saved them up until I was able to trade up to a better projector.  This one is an Ultra HD / 3D projector with a much better and brighter image.  This one even looks great in the daylight.

The Hidden Room.
Just for fun and to make use of the room behind The Wall, I made the left side shelves into a door that opens into a large storage closet.

The Multi Media System.
I am currently running Cable TV, Apple TV and a 3D Blue Ray DVD through a Yamaha Surround System with 7.1 Klipsch Speaker and a Yamaha Subwoofer.  It sounds amazing.
